Media that may have Inspired me

These are my top movies that probably helped inspire me:

How to Train your Dragon

Dragonheart

The Neverending Story

And Spirited Away, but can't find a good video

Anyway, for books the Dragonlance series I really loved.
Also, Dennis L. McKeirnan, if you haven't read him you should!!

Rachael's favorite

Culture and Dragons

Dragon at the entrance to a Babylonian Temple
Cadmus slaying a dragon
Nordic dragon
While thinking of what I wanted my dragons to look like I did a little research all over the world.  I think its interesting that in every culture there is something of a dragon in their mythos, art, history.  I'd like to think that Dragons used to exist on the planet (and not just in my head)  For some reason Dragons have always been awe inspiring to me.  I'm not sure what it is but I love anything with dragons.  So, here are some dragons I came across while researching.

European style dragon

Chinese Dragon

Egyptian serpent
Yay for Dragons!  I love the Asian ideas on dragons, the yin and yang and the Dragon usually lives in the water, controls the weather and protects treasure.

Painting with Dragons

This one, is by far the hardest one we are trying to decide on.

As you can see, so many ideas!

Hiding dragons

Swimming and riding with dragons!

My goal is to try to use Dragons from different countries mythology, hence the water dragon that looks like a Chinese dragon.

To fly...

I was having a hard time deciding on this one

Singing dragons

These are all a work in progress still

Studying a bug

Rachael Moody is my illustrator and here are some sketches I first received.  There have been a lot of back and forth, but its turning out great, don't you think?

The beginning...

I had been depressed and just didn't know what to do with my life-I mean besides being a Mother to my beautiful children, but what was I good at doing?

My husband talked me into believing that I could do something, that I just need to take the time and work at it;  so one night while rocking my baby to sleep some pictures and words started to form in my mind.  As soon as I could I ran downstairs to start typing.

A poem began to unravel, it took me several months to finish it, but I did it!  I can't believe how long it took me, my brain was out of practice I suppose.

Then I told my idea to a cousin of ours who is an artist and she joined my crusade!

So, without further ado...the beginnings of my first book!  (That I will self publish,  more on that later.)
